Dr. Samantha Allen is an environmental scientist and Assistant Professor at Tennessee Tech University whose work explores how landscapes shape freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity.
Her research uses remote sensing and field ecology to study streams and watersheds, including how biogeochemical processes change along stream gradients and in response to the surrounding landscape. Dr. Allen’s work bridges geospatial science, freshwater ecology, and conservation, from mapping biodiversity and invasive species to using drones, satellite imagery, and spatial data to understand environmental change across connected landscapes. Through photography, mapping, and visual storytelling, she translates complex environmental research into new ways of seeing and understanding our changing landscapes. Her work is driven by curiosity about our changing world and a commitment making a meaningful difference for ecosystems and communities.
